The Research for Health - Africa (R4HA) Initiative aims to support African countries build their policy frameworks and management bases for effective governance of research for health. Its overall objective is to support African ownership and optimal utilization of research for health to achieve health and health equity, reduce poverty, and contribute to Africa’s socio-economic development. The present project is operating in three countries – covering three RECs – with the aim of learning lessons and creating models for extension and expansion. To date, Senegal and Tanzania has selected to participate in the Initiative. Detailed work plans in the two countries have been prepared for the first year of programme implementation (2011).
