John Bustamante Osorno, MD, Ph.D. obtained his Bachelor's degree in Medicine from Universidad Pontificia Bolivariana, Medellín, Colombia. Later he received his PhD in Medical Sciences in Internal Medicine, Cardiology Program, from the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, Barcelona, Spain; and Post-Ph.D. in Prosthesis and Cardiac Bioimplants, at National Institute of Cardiology -Ignacio Chávez-, México D.F., México. Currently, he is Head of the Cardiovascular Dynamic Research Group, and Coordinator of the Doctoral Programme in Medical Sciences at Universidad Pontificia Bolivariana, Colombia.
Other professional positions: Member of the editorial board of several technical and scientific journals on cardiology and bioengineering subject. Member of evaluation committee and referee on several institutions of science and technology. Member of academic community over doctoral and high level education formation. Member of several academic societies on cardiology, medical engineering, tissues and organs banking, and others.
